I recently started reshooting and reholdering (new flips and updated attributions) some of my coins. Messing around with my Samsung Galaxy s5 I put the coin on blue card stock, placing a florescent light about a foot away. I held the phone about a foot away and hit click, using just the auto focus.

I later painted over the blue background with my preferred black.

I was especially happy with how this coin came out.

Very nice coin, looks better struck and thicker than most Sasanids I've seen.

You're phone's photo quality is considerable better than my Samsung Galaxy SIII.

A secret I don't often let loose is that all my coins are photographed with my phone.

Here's one of the ancients I captured using my phone:

Excellent photo Noob.

I just wish that people would crop their photos taken with a phone. It is not hard to do.

I found a picture on the photography forum here that helped me immensely. I don't use a light box, and I don't fix my phone to anything, just hold it with my finger whilst it rests on an overturned tub, but you get the picture:
