NGC-Coins-Highlight-Champion-Macau-AuctionThe following is a press release from NGC

Sale led by the legendary Kann-Sweeny 1900 Peking Restrike Set.

The Champion Macau Auction, held November 30 in conjunction with the Macau Numismatic Society Show, featured many NGC highlights. The sale was led by the legendary Kann-Sweeny 1900 Peking Restrike Set, which included five NGC-certified coins that sold for a combined $424,800.

Only 10 or so 1900 Peking Restrike Sets are known and this one is pedigreed to the famous collections of Kann and Sweeny. It comprises a Silver Dollar graded NGC MS 61, a 50 Cents graded NGC MS 61, a 20 Cents graded NGC MS 63, a 10 Cents graded NGC MS 61 and a 5 Cents graded NGC MS 61.

This set was followed by an NGC MS 66 China-Anhwei 1898 L&M-204 Silver Dollar that realized $112,100. It is tied with two others for the finest certified by NGC.

Also notable is a China Taiwan (1853) L&M-325 Silver Dollar from the J.C. Lee Collection. Graded NGC XF Details, it achieved $82,600 well in excess of the presale high estimate.
