Selling this coin on ebay as a true, unplated error would be an outright lie. I've found many just like it searching and they go into the junk pile.

I don't ever lie to my buyers on ebay and nobody is forced to buy my stuff!! My feedback is 100% positive! and my buyers have never complained! This coin ain't junk either! Some of the people on this forums think they know it all lol Sorry to hear you find a lot of junk in your pile dude!! 12 years as a seller on ebay.. I wonder why no buyer has ever called me a liar? Peace out.

That cent pictured does not look like new to me. I've dug many like this before with the good ol' metal detector, or found these after any number of exposures to any number of conditions in my dealings with retail establishments, and while none of us can know for sure what caused the look of this one, it doesn't look like anything special from what the photographs show. But if you want to spend the cash on sending in your cent, go for it. The worst that will happen is they will say you spent cash you should have kept. The best that will happen is they say you found something special. I'm personally siding with the majority here but you could surprise us all. And no offense (really, no offense intended to anyone on here who sells on ebay, which includes myself on occasion), but I've seen many people who sell on ebay and have been selling for years who sell questionable items but have fantastic feedback ratings. Many people just don't know what they are buying, and take what is listed as Gospel truth. Using that statistic alone to justify or support a claim of superior knowledge, salesmanship or morality is like buying the holder instead of the coin, if you ask me. All that said, If you send this to get graded, please do post pics when you get it back. I'd love to see what a TPG says about it.

Don't have it graded. Just put it in a mason jar and list it!

These coins are fun. Its a LUCK OF THE DRAW cent. I have sent one into NGC, had it come back a 63 uncoated planchet. Same coin sent back in comes back altered surface damage.
I hope the luck goes your way!
