I picked up a 1965 and a 1967 SMS set at my LCS a few days ago. Is there anything in the packaging that can harm the coins? I am on yhe fence about removing them and putting them in the Danscos or leaving them complete.

I picked up the exact same things 2 weeks ago, the 67s half dollars are kinda milky so I took em out. The 65 I had to break up because of a large green crusty spot on the half which came off with a quick dip, I don't know if it was just a coincidence or bad storage or what?

I have many of these in the OGP without any of them turning color. So if they look good now, unless you expose them to a polluted environment (such as tobacco smoke) they likely will be stable.

The '67 is very safe but air can permeate a little so storage conditions are important long term. Just wrap nthem in plastic.

The '65 set has PVC but so far most have stood up fairly well. I try to err toward getting them out of the packaging but ofte fail since it seems unimportant. I think it might help to store them vertically but don't know it yet.

As long as the coins are in good condition I'd leave them in OGP. Keep them stored in a humid-free environment. If the coins are damaged I'd put them in an album.

I don't think there is much upside in terms of investment value for leaving them in the OGP since these are quite common (minted in the 2 million range). I'd do whatever you like for storage and presentation. I break them out, personally.
