Many collector avoid auctions that are labeled "copy", "restrike" or "counterfeit".

But we should not without taking a second to look and assure ourselves that without warning we could quickly come to the same conclusion.

The following are two such auctions:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/181625029224

What did you learn?

Here are three more that are less obvious but none the less would have been terminated for old rules violations.

Can you say why in each case?

I do NOT LIKE coins being described as ?copy?
Say straight out that they ARE copies.
THEN, I may consider placing a bid.

I don't mind buying fake coins, PROVIDED THAT they are described as fake.

Otherwise, not only is it immoral and unethical, in most jurisdictions, it is illegal.

In lot of occasions it is impossible to own the genuine article, because of great cost, on other occasions it is worthwhile owning a collection of fake coins for the owner's education in learning for himself how to identify them.

The identification of fakes in this area is not my area of skill; but I do maintain a reasonable collection of fake ancient coins, some obvious, some very deceptively dangerous.
