These were not a hit with collectors as the mint did not sell very many. I wonder if this is the right numbers of sales. The Royal Canadian Mint reported that as of December 31, 2013 1- Fielder Only 866 Sold 2-The Pitcher only 938 Sold 3-Hitter only 1405 Sold 4- Runner only 864 Sold

The low numbers might be correct, but looks like they taking in account only 2013 sales and not the 2014.
When the coin have been issued? If it was at the end of 2013 - so we have to wait for 2014 report.
My assumption might be incorrect,if the coin was issued at the end of 2012 and marked as 2013.

My assumption might be incorrect,if the coin was issued at the end of 2012 and marked as 2013. There were not any sold in 2012 and most were sold in 2013 as they were released early 2013 , as I have posted before in another thread I suspect that those low mintage numbers will be close as I dont think many at all were sold in 2014 , but will have to wait and see what the 2014 report shows to know for certain the finale mintages. But as I have said for awhile now , these are under rated and with so few actualy sold they could be a real sleeper coin , but as always time will tell. Oh and btw , they are "VERY NICE" in hand... I showed some pictures of some of the ones I have in another thread..somewhere.. oh ok this thread: https://goccf.com/t/192288&whichpage=1

Quote:Btw the shopping channel has them on sale for $68.88 reg $114.95 They have the runner and fielder only http://www.theshoppingchannel.com/T...0,E:11818594 Ya thats were I got mine, they had 3 types then those two and the pitcher, the hitter were sold out at the time, the hitter is most popular so it appears. But the others have lower finale mintages ... er well that has yet to be established.

And again, they might repeat the destiny of "rare" coins: low mintage, with high set (by the market) price, but without interest of the public.

Because they are trademarked for the World Baseball Championship, is there a third party that has a bulk purchase of coins out there. Was it a commissioned coin? Does it matter to the final numbers if it was? As Silveroid says, if it is rare and is still not in demand then what. Price is at 1/2 of retail. Like Georgina Pope, can buy for $25, but do I need another for my collection. Northerncoins, I remember your pictures, they were great and the coin looked nicer in hand, if you like the series, buy them at a nice big discount and enjoy them even more or give to a baseball fan.

The mintages from the 2011 Boreal Forest silver $10 series ended up being quite low also, with much better eye-appeal in my opinion. https://goccf.com/t/126790

Ya there are nice but only 1/2 oz plus I think the USA market isn't that much into that type of Canadain art etc. Where as Baseball is "BIG" in the US and with appox 400 mill population vers appox 40 million in Canada, if these Base Ball coins start taking off I think the prices will jump but we shall see. Worst case is sell them for spot value someday...

I think that the new American baseball coin is a lot more creative and reasonably priced.

Quote: The shopping channel only has the runner available, looks like people here are cleaning the shopping channel out of them. Yep , once word gets around of the low finale mintages these will take off,you dont even need to like them if the mintages are 800 to 1500 ish , but still waiting for the RCM 2014 report.

With the time-machine in the garage (De-Lorian) for example, would yo prefer: 1. To go back in time and to grab some circulation coins, that extremely expensive now, 2. or to go forward in time, to see, what will be popular (minted in our time : circulation/NCLT) and "save it"?
Looks like the first nicely destroys numismatics, but it is immediate profit.

Your idea is good, SilverDon, but I tried to be more close to numismatics :)
