I bought a lot of 40 Franklins and about ten of them look like they might have cameo. I dont know if its ultra cameo or not. I also never had my coins graded and I thought that this would be a good chance to try it. If I shoot a video of the coin would it be evident to anyone here if its deep cameo or not and if its worth grading? Thank you!
They are cameo but what level of cameo I can't tell. They don't look like DC from your pics to me. I see a lot of problems with the mirror part of the coins so they most likely would not grade high. Maybe you could pick out a few that you think would grade DC and post pics front and back of the coins. http://www.pcgs.com/News/Why-Frankl...te-And-Grade http://coins.about.com/od/coingradi...of-Coins.htm John1
What muddler said, PCGS will require both sides to be CAM or DCAM, ANACS will denote if just one side is CAM/DCAM (eg. description will state "Obverse DCAM").
If the first 2 videos are of the same coin, I think you have a cameo. The other coins in the 3rd video look at least cameo but without seeing both sides, it hard to see for sure. Both sides must at least meet the criteria of cameo or deep/ultra cameo before calling it cameo or deep/ultra cameo. Whether or not they will be worth grading will depend on the dates and potential numerical grade in additional to the level of contrast.
First pics look cameo, and perhaps deep cameo. However it appears that their are some issues with the fields, whether it is dust and/or or hairlines I can not tell. An acetone wash could not hurt.
Thanks! I'll do an acetone wash, never heard about this before, and pick some of the better ones to post pictures of. Thank you for the valuable information!
