Greetings!

I was bequeathed this medal from my grandfather a little over a year ago and through searching was able to find a bit of information about this medal. I figured I could post it here and see if anyone else has information about this such as:

How many were given out?
Potential value?
Any interesting facts about it.

I've searched but did not find any results on this forum. Any information would be incredible helpful.

Already have come across the Google related results.

An interesting fact that I found was the Metropolitan Museum of Art has a silver version of this medal that was gifted to them by Abram's son, Erskine http://metmuseum.com/collection/the...earch/197736

I found a bronze version of this was offered in the Presidential Coin & Antique Company in 2013. Lot #414 http://www.maineantiquedigest.com/c...ential83.pdf

The lot description said the last time they had offered a bronze version was 20 years ago and it sold for $192.50. What the one offered in 2013 brought I don't know, but I can try to find out Monday.

A silver version of this medal auctioned by StacksBowers in 2012 sold for $558.13. http://www.stacksbowers.com/archive...results.aspx

Wow, that is more than I expected. Thank you very much.

Yes, if you are able to find out about the one in 2013, I'd be very appreciative.

Thanks again!

The one in the 2013 sale brought $375.

Estimate was $200 to $400 in case you didn't see the code at the bottom of the lot.
