it seems to be Spain as it reads Phillip by the grace of god king of all Spain. I cannot tell which Phillip it is and it looks like it is more than countermarked, it looks like it was offically defaced at some point.

It looks copper, is it?

It is a revalued 8 Maradevis from Spain. This one seemingly has been revalued at least two times. Unfortunately it seems neither date can be read but coins were revalued in Spain in the first half of the 17th century.

No, you didn't.

The matrix/undertype seems to have a tower design similar to the one you showed. But a diversity of coins was revalued and the one in the op was revalued at least two times in my opinion. Difficult to determine exactly what the matrix or the countermark is. The largest date span I have for one of those type is a 1659 revalue mark on a 1598 coin. Luckily both dates can be recognised.

Hi. I think the original coin is 8 maravedís, mint Segovia (1602-1620, Felipe III).

It is difficult but I can distinguish three countermarks (but nor date neither mint):
- XII (with point up) is countermark of 12 maravedís, probably 1641-1642
- 8 (within a circle) is 8 maravedís 1651-1652
- And X (it is not complete), 4 or 2 maravedís 1658-1659

Original mut be like this one:
