Where and how did you find it?

Looks like a Hiberno-Norse coin from Eric

My guess is that it is a modern replica. Btw, the original would be over 1,000 years old.

I got onto Google Images, and found a modern reproduction of exactly the same type.
Research the Norse coins of Eric the Blood Axe.

I have a feeling that this is one of the replica coins that you can buy at the Jorvik Viking Exhibition in York. A member of staff takes a blank and hammers the coin while you wait - when I went, it was a very attractive blonde woman! I'll try to dig out my Jorvik 'coin' so I can post a photo and compare it to yours.

Hi - I've checked my Jorvik replica Viking coins and they are similar but not the same! These are from two visits several years apart, but the dies may of course have changed again since my second visit!
