This is the first coin (bearded) that is different. So far as we are aware, Nero did not have a beard. Report this Post to the Staff

Have to disagree, just checked my copy of the Cologne catalogue of Alexandrian coins from Nero and on some of those he does have a beard similar in style and on some even stronger to the one depicted in your link. echizento Moderator United States 23731 Posts	Posted 01/18/2015 1:22 pm There is one obverse type that does show Nero with looks like facial hair under his chin and a small amount of hair along the edge of his cheek. Topcat7 Pillar of the Community 1121 Posts	Posted 01/19/2015 01:02 am The seller attributes his coin to RIC 60, but when I look at RIC 60 (on Wildwinds) I am struggling to find a beard. I am also having difficulty with his (name) hair tie, and his haircut. I am with P.P. on this one, although Cohen does show some facial hair on some examples.
