There are some adjustment marks across Louis XV's face and partially filled numbers in the date -- otherwise a problem free strike on a new planchet. By this time the ecu had been standardize to six livres tournois for many years -- not much need to overstrike earlier ecu. Between 1690 and 1725 the value of the ecu inflated and the ecu was commonly overstruck with new designs to indicate the higher value. Report this Post to the Staff

During this year the design changed to show the imperial crown on top of the left pillar. In addition, the team of assayers changed from Manuel de Leon and Francisco de la Pena y Flores (MF) to Manuel de Leon and Manuel Assorin (MM).
