I wonder if a modern Chinese reproduction counts for the year? If not, I have an awful 1/12 thaler from Munster for 1714 (which might be real or fake, of course.)

I have an undated Venetian scudo from 1714-15 (dated from the mintmaster's initials) that I can post after a legitimate 1714 makes an appearance.

I guess it's time to post a 1714 coin that is presumed legitimate (until someone proves that it's a fake).

It just looks like a well worn but authentic coin.

There's only the general doubt that surrounds any uncertified coin, or any certified coin, too (if you can't match the picture at the NGC of PGCS verification websites).

Just about any coin I've posted here could be fake -- there are a few expensive ones that are certified and the coin matches up with the pictures on the PCGS or NGC website.

As for this particular coin, it looks like they're not currently available on the forbidden website that sells (unmarked) replicas, providing the search function is really working. The Krause catalog must have 250000+ coins in it, and it looks like you can get replicas of for only several thousand coin types, many of them US. The foreign coins silver seem to be mostly the larger, more spectacular coins, like reales (spelled reals), thalers, dalers, rubles, ducatons, crowns, reis, shillings, florins, etc. I couldn't find unusual denominations like 1/12 thalers, flitters, mariengroschen, denars, albus, obulus, polushkas, polturaks, polkers, tympfs, or even kreuzers or (surprisingly) pfennigs.
