I was wondering, are silver coins more plentiful in Hawaii than the states? And are old Hawaiin coins easy to find? I want to know if coin finding chances will be increased in Hawaii.

I had two tours of duty there (total 6 years) and the only silver coins I found were located with a metal detector. Early Hawaiian coinage is very collectable and not found in circulation.

Extremely low probability in finding any US silver coins in circulation today. Also, Kingdom of Hawaii coins were removed from circulation by 1902. My birthplace is the Territory of Hawaii and lived there during the transition from Territory to State (roughly 18 years). I never found a Kingdom of Hawaii coin in circulation during these years.

Aside from the Kingdom of Hawaii coinage, Hawaiiana numismatics crosses over into so many collecting areas such as: SCD, SC50C, Alaska, WWII, Kingdom of Hawaii coins,US commemorative half dollars, Liberty Dollars (i.e. NORFED), saloon tokens, railroad tokens, plantation tokens, amusement tokens, bakery tokens, commercial tokens, dairy tokens, military tokens, school tokens, transportation tokens, elongated tokens, encased tokens, commemorative medals, ingot, royal medals, etc...

There were also several private mints operating within the State of Hawaii. Several of these issues are low in population and dispersed world-wide as they were high quality coins/medals sold to Hawaii visitors. Majority of these private mints no longer exist.

Additional information about Hawaiiana numismatics can be found at my blog http://thehawaiiananumismatist.com/about/
