I'm starting to get curious about these earlier date large cents. This one caught my eye. I have almost no experience with these.

I noticed something that looks like a tiny hole between the ear and shoulder?

What do you think of this? Price, grade, problems?

Thanks.

I am guessing AG3 details. Price is a bit steep in my opinion.

I meant the coin looks AG to me. As far as whether it could grade AG at a TPG I am not sure.

Oh.

Yeah, these are kind of a different animal than what I've been getting used to, so I have no clue if it's a problem sort of coin, or if it would be considered normal problem free.

That hole between the ear and shoulder, and some odd wear patterns around the outer edge of the reverse are the only things I can pick out.

Personally I think the price is too high for such a worn coin. 1803 is by far the most common year and cool coins can be had for under $100. The Draped Liberty Series is my favorite coin series of all but it can be a challenging series as the coins demand a premium. Be patient, I think you can find a better coin in this price range.

Here is a well worn coin I got last year. Same year as your coin. A little less worn and color a bit better. This one is the stemless variety also that should give it a bit more value. I think I paid about $65 for this one. 1803-Large-Cent 1803-Large-Cent

That "hole" you're referring to Scott is actually a curl and it is normal to see that.
