This just arrived today. Probably beats my 5th century Athens tet as my oldest coin.

I got this to represent Xerxes I in my Notable Figures collection.

Achaemenid Empire

Wonderful piece. Leave it the way it is. A gorgeous relic of the Greek War with Persia.

I have read in an Australian coin magazine some years ago, that these sigloi can be sequenced according to what the king holds in the right hand:
a sceptre, a spear, or a dagger.
A bow in all examples is held in the left hand.

These coins, for many collectors of ancient coins, are the oldest that they have.
