Hello! A local coin store near me has recently got a Bavarian Madonnentaler up for sale, from 1771. The condition is not very good (G) and it's cleaned, but not harshly polished. Do you think it's worth buying for $30 Canadian? (Because of recent exchange rate difficulties, CAD$30 is only worth USD$23.50 or EUR20.90.)

That's about twice the value of the silver content.
That particular thaler is one of the more common issues.
They are popular, though. One in VF might set you back $100-125 or more.
It's worth buying IMO if you like it for the design (I do) and *especially* if you can negotiate downward closer to the melt value.
Worn examples lose a LOT of the important detail.
