I saw this auction today and it is definitely on my wish list if I could throw that type of money out. Certainly not a jar or wheat roll with dime ends scam as I see a couple were for sale. Certainly would like it if the seller accidentally listed the starting bid as a BIN. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-Ba...047675.l2557Edited by buddy16cat 02/02/2015 05:45 am

They don't make slabs specifically for rolls!

Why would anyone sell a CC dollar roll which has two Pl reverses showing on the ends not open it to see what the dates on the coins are?

I have to say, I'm pretty impressed on how well that "original bank wrapped roll" has been preserved; considering the bank closed its doors in the late 1800's.

It always makes me cringe when I see nice coins treated like that...

If any listing has "unopened" in the title as a feature of the auction, it's safe to assume it's a lie.

I do admit, if that was mine, no way would I not open it. I wouldn't let some key date go like that and have decide what I am going to keep or sell. I am actually reading negative reviews the seller has for selling "unsearched rolls" The only time I bought coins and was surprised when they only showed part of the roll in a roll holder or there were a lot (200 V nickels). In that case I was surprised buy things like this (this scanner on this computer doesn't scan copper well):

It's nice to see healthy cynicism. It just needs to be well considered, and accurately directed.

I may be wrong, but I thought it was unusual to see that one of the end coins looks like it is an 1878, which is a hard date to get in MS. The 1878 CC mintmark looks different compared to all the other CC Morgan dollars.

If that roll were truly unsearched, the end coin would be toned and not blast white. Just another ebay scam artist. Contact with our Industrial Age, sulfur laden atmosphere tones silver within 20 years or less.
