2.5 grams, a little larger than a quarter. Was part of a set of world coins. Real? Where can I learn more about it?

From what I see, it seems to be real. Wu Chu coinage was used in China for many centuries, the name indicates a weight of 5 Chu. Don't know any good online reference separating the many versions.

I appreciate it. I pulled it up off a prior thread. Can't find this coin on the site, but that's ok.

I have this as 12 cent Song Dynasty. I doubt the attribution.

Looks kinda like yours. Yours does not appear to have any patina remaining on it.

I would like see what your attribution comes back as.

No no no 'Ancientnoob'.
1st your orientation is right, the orientation in the op is upside down.
2nd have another look, your coins does not have complete inner rims on the obverse, so it's not that type.
But yours was certainly cast well before the 12th century, casting of Wu Chu coinage ended in the 7th century.

Number one D'oah! Your right.
2. Ah so what your saying is the obverse boarder not being elevated on ours makes it a different type? Or a different variety of the type? Does this drastically affect the dating? I didn't think so, but me being wrong wouldn't be a surprise. ha.

If you consider Wu Chu the type, then yours is one. But no need to argue if it is a type or variety. Yes, it does affect the dating. What I can see from the picture of yours is that on the obverse there is a line above the rim, while the other three sides don't show one (definitely not on the bottom, maybe on the other two - you have to check on that). Of the plenty varieties of Wu Chu having been cast, only few allow a clear attribution to a specific reign/ruler.
