Hello All,

Received the following pure silver medallion. Writing on it is German (I think). Found nothing on thos one when using Google. Any info about this medallion will be gratefully accepted.

Weight is 16.8 grams, diameter is 35 mm.

The 1975 Jubilee year of Pope Paul VI was the 675th anniversary of the first Jubilee year of 1300, and 1975 also marked the 500th anniversary of the birth of Michelangelo. The medallion is in German, but beyond that I can't help much more.

I'm not entirely certain, but I think the building on it is St. Peter's Basilica.

Michael Angelus Bonarotius = latin name of Michelangelo Buonaroti.This medal remenbers his 500 th birtday (1475 ) and 675 th anniversary of the first Holy Year. The reverse is St Peters's Basilica in Rome , partly a work of Michelangelo
