I have a 1965 Cuban Souvenir coin. The composition is silver and the coin has a proof finish. I can't find any info in the world coin Krause books and I have no idea what is is. Please help me out in learning more about it. Thank you!

Cubans in exile? Probably didnt come from Cuba then. Maybe it was some kind of fundraiser for Cubans who fled the revolution.

Also the obverse translates to "homeland and liberty " or fatherland might be closer.

I think these were a fantasy issue struck for Richard Lobel, later of Coincraft. I have seen them advertised in his Phoenix magazine in the past. There is an article about them here:

Most recently these coins have been selling at Auction for around $400 in PF 67 UC No Lettered Edge have been Auctioned at Heritage, but I feel Lettered edge would bring double that amount in PF 67 UC, the Plain Edge PF 68 UC went for $800 at Heritage Coin Auction in 2018.

At HA the 1965 Cuba Souvenir Peso Has Seen a high of over $1500 for PF 68 Cameo Plain Edge and High of Over $1200 for PF 68 UC Reeded Edge. Lettered Edge PF 66 bought in figure of around $1000 so condition still driving the price but All 1965 Cuba Souvenirs in all conditions have seen a nice rise in Price. Seen a Lettered Edge PF 69 UC of the XM#16 Version and was priced at $3500 but not sold. Richard Margolis one of the creators of this coin passed away in November of 2018. I thank him for creating a beautiful coin that is very meaningful to all us Cuban in Exile. Jose
