It is with great pride and anticipation that Heritage Auctions, February 28, 2015, offers the Merrill C. Berman Collection of Political Americana. Merrill starting collecting over 50 years ago and quietly amassed one of the finest collections in the hobby, patronizing a select group of dealers centered in the Northeast and participating in landmark auctions such as the Warner and Harris Collections. Quiet and unassuming, he kept off the radar, not appearing at shows, but assiduously putting together a significant holding of quality political Americana from George Washington to Lyndon Johnson. The collection will be sold in four installments… three occurring this year with the finale slated for early 2016. The material to be offered consists exclusively of “smalls” such as tokens, ferrotypes, ribbons and celluloids. As with any collection of this quality, there are several “signature” pieces which have been off the market for decades, ever since the time of their acquisition. We expect collectors, cognizant of the opportunity, will aggressively pursue these items, as well as a vast assortment of other “great stuff!”
