I just made a new Facebook page that centers on coin collecting and I just wrote my first article or note on it. It is a basic introduction to collecting and I plan on writing a lot about it and getting really in depth. I thought who better to get to come see the page than you guys! Also any thoughts or suggestions on it is appreciated. Thank you all! https://www.facebook.com/collectablecoins.us

Had a quick look and one thing came immediately to mind.
Rather than heading your first article "An Introduction to the Basic Overview of Coin Collecting" it should probably read "An Introduction to the Basic Overview of Collecting United States' coins". No objection against just focusing on one segment, but that should be indicated.
Otherwise thumbs up to your effort.

Wish you well with your endeavour.

Just to mention two aspects of coin collecting which do not play a role with your focus:
1. Cultural diversity - which plays a role when collecting world coins, especially if it involves coins with different scripts.
2. History associated with coins - this plays a huge role for collectors of 'older' coins - very little of that though associated with federally issued United States coinage (yes, there are the different metals associated with war time issues but that's more or less all).

Thank you Medieval, On the page there should be something written to the effect that I will be addressing the history as well because you are correct it does play a huge role in it.

You are welcome.
Hope you eventually expand your collecting horizon (always good to see new faces in the ancient forum), but no objection if you want to stick with United States coinage.
Otherwise I cannot say much, while I have quite a few (mainly base metal) types of United States coinage it's just as part of my world collection.

I use to deal coins for a few years and learned a lot and it became a hobby I know about the history and different aspects of coins but all of that information is primarily in the U.S. section. I am always wanting to learn more so I will have to hop on over there sometime.
