Occasionally ancient coins show up in unexpected places. Heres a Magnentius/Chi Rho in a group of tokens.

Im looking at the Anglesey Penny, but its a nice kicker.

Wow ! Nice one. Magnentius is another interesting character in history . On a side note, at the Battle of Mursa Major in 353 Magnentius and Constantius II clashed. In the insueing battle over 50,000 troops lost their lives( making it the deadliest Roman civil war) this was the reason why Julian II had such a hard time with the barbarians in the later 350s .

Let me ask the expert this " Why is Magnentius usually not shown with a diademed or laurel wreath " ?

Not really unusual. I've seen before modern lots like this one with an ancient or two mixed in.
