I seem to be spending a lot of my time and a fair bit of money on the US mint web site buying silver proof sets and the like.

Is it a good plan to buy the coins they have as they come out or am I wasting time and money doing this?

you pay your money and take your chances.

I do not buy from the mint. But that is just me. Most items you can get cheaper on the secondary market, but every now and then you will hit a home run. If your collection is centered on US moderns then you should be happy with what they sell.

Are you happy? Are you getting what you want? If you answered yes to both, you win. If not then you may want to rethink your strategy.
Rest in Peace

If your into modern silver coins buying direct from the
mint is ok. but I think the mint has gone too commercial
with their products and especially their prices. if your into all that fancy cases and holders then that's the way for you to go.
or you can hold off and pick something up on e-bay or a show for less money.
