Well, I'm looking for a good solution to keep my collection safe, but still able to poke through them and enjoy them.

I've got a wide assortment of coins, from different times, and different countries all around the world. If I see a coin that isn't a normal dime, quarter, penny or nickel, I grab it. (cept modern canadian coins... though I do snag the ones with older portraits of the queen and kings and such)

As such, standard quarter pockets, dime pockets, etc. Just won't cut it. Becuase most of my coins do not fit in these pre-determined sizes. Right now, most of my collection is rolled up, in little baggies and kleenex's in an wooden box from sipping whiskey.

This works fine and dandy, but as my collection grows, it's hard to fit stuff back in the box when I open it up... and even harder to enjoy it.

Another part of my collection, is in a POG (or milk-cap) album. Which really seems to be quite an elegant solution, but I don't know if the plastic the sheets are made of might do damage to the coins in the long run. And... there aren't nearly enough slots in my current album.

I need a good solution for my collection, that will keep it safe, but I still want to be able to look through them freely... But, I don't want to spend all my money on it either.. Any ideas?

I really don't have a good solution for you but I want to express my concern with putting the coins in a wooden box, if its pine (or some other woods also) it can turn the coins rather quickly, especially copper and silver(for some reason). If you are going to put your collection in a baggie and force all the air out of it before you seal the baggie up that may be one thing but just placing them in there with a paper towel wrapped around them may have bad results for the coins if stored this way for any time period

The collection has been in that box for over 30 years... it's a little late for that concern... but, that's part of the reason I'm looking for something better.

I store my collection in mylar 2x2s, and keep them in the paper red boxes for coins. All together, the cost per hundred coins is about $6US.

The really special coins I keep in binders, and in plastic pocket pages. This way I can pick up the binder and flip through them easily, but they are well protected.

The only problem is taking the time to put them in the 2x2, staple it shut, then crimp the staple down. If you pick up large lots of coins at a time, it can be a time consuming project to take care of.
