1905 Liberty Head $2.5 Gold Counterfeit?

StrikeZone New Member United States 22 Posts	Posted 02/24/2015 6:08 pm Hello; I recently purchased a 1905 Liberty Head $2.5 Gold coin from a Government Auction. It is a RAW Coin that came in a clear sleeve. I first removed it from the sleeve to look it over, next I weighed it on my digital scale. What I found is that it seems too heavy. It currently reads 0.1334 Troy Ounces and 4.16 Grams. It does not stick to a magnet, but I feel it can't possiblity be real. Any thoughts? I'm new to collecting and only took in the content of gold value (3.7635) grams, guess I should have figured in the copper content also! Guess it's a learning curve. The coin actually weighs 4.18 grams after I calibrated my scale....so yes it is spot on! Thanks again Report this Post to the Staff
