I wonder if it would make sense for the mods to create a new forum that focuses on paper trading and keep this forum as physical metals and bullion discussion as the topic suggests?

To me, some of these threads are analogous to creating a thread about a favorite silver bar in a paper trading forum. While it tangentially related, it just seem odd.

Some of the feisty exchanges lately seem to be in part because one is discussing physical hobby/stacking/collecting and another is talking about paper trading.

I think both forums (paper trading and physical) add value. I'm just not sure if mixing the topics is optimal.

Ah ...... because it is a coin collecting forum. Not a stock trading or financial forum. The fact that some people take tangents that are way out of the scope of this forum, are more a testament to the leniency and patience of the Mods, not the desire of the rank and file.

If you notice, the main combatants in these threads are mostly newbies with only several hundred posts, not something that the majority of the membership 1000+ posts even care about or even read. Even the author of the main blog has very little to say about actual coin collecting, out of 2000+ posts, I would venture to guess that 75% of those came from posting in his blog.

Basically just because a handful of people choose to "argue it out" on a daily basis, on a subject that only a handful of people here really care about or find that it has anything to do with their love of this hobby, is absolutely no basis for an expansion of this forum into that area.

Just one man's opinion

This Coin Community Forum is an amazing site with some very knowledgable individuals on coins, bullion, and precious metals. I have posted a few photos of Morgans before sending them to NGC and in every case, those on this site were able to predict the official NGC grade. The Canadian coin forums are also excellent.

This part of the forum seems to be struggling more the others and I was just looking for some options that might make this an equally enjoyable area of the coin community forums.

I came here thinking you were talking about paper money...

Did a little search on the web that might point you in the right direction:

@Libertad

I probably need that for the silver hobby. What, I can get a little blob of silver for only a couple of hundred dollars? Wow, what a deal.

Actually, maybe it's actually psychological help I need.
