I purchased a 1937 penny and half penny from a local dealer. The dealer told me they are proof coins. They have nice toning, but I wasn't sure about proof or regular. What do you think? Do they look like proof to you?
I only have proof a proof silver half crown of this date. The proof coins of this date have nicely polished fields, but not quite to the high mirror finish of modern NCLT silver collector coins.
Can't see the radial mint lustre associated with an uncirculated example. This one may have been lightly cleaned with a smooth cream metal polish, many years ago. The more exposed parts of the surface suggest this. It has been re toning for decades.
