One place offering 12% discount (359.95 vs 316.95) - then charging 7% PST for BC - isn't exactly 'Tanking' (final price would be $339.14 + shipping). As I said on the other thread, it's nice, but not a great discount - especially if you get free shipping from the mint.
I think that the initial price offering on this set is quite a steep price due to all 3 coins at one time. It frightens off 'newby' collectors, but is reasonable for what it is. A set of 3 coins each of a 3000 mintage only.
ed: corrected mintages

I don't mind the price is going down, part of the cause is in the quality of the set, as many have mentioned. People loose interests because of that. I don't know when the RCM will publish final mintage for this set but I am willing to bet the final number will be a lot less than 3000 (may be 2500 at most). I am happy with my two set and I will keep them..... I MAY sell one to a fellow collector who would appreciate the set. I feel like I like this set the most, out of all RCM coins I have bought so far. Does anyone else have the same feeling?

They probably promote First Nations Art, since getting the dealer's discount, they can allow it. But we can see, that for this promotion the small allocation set: 2 units only. And this is nice - knowing that they can list it for CAD 1500 on ebay, they give discount to promote the true art...

No need to hype up this set...it will sell out everywhere...soon. The B.C., coin dealer with the discount, located in B.C., likely over-purchased...for BC residents/clients...given the artist who designed the coins is well known in B.C., and they are offering a discount to sell off their Overstock in their inventory by trying to price match(by offering minor discount)to dealer prices from other jurisdictions without tax or shipping...ie Mint. This set is fabulous...high relief, hand crafted, three differing designs...one great set...in box...and low mintage for all you low mintage lovers.

Is it possible that any discounted sets are just returns due to poor quality? Tough to sell if they have terribly noticeably blemishes. Perhaps due to the discount dealers get, they are not subject to the same return policy the RCM has with regular buyers. Thus, discounting a few not so good looking set, while still profiting overall.

@SA4H I agree, this set is my favourite of the RCM releases so far.

There is a possibility that for Dealers to earn the discount, they have to commit/buy XXX amount of coin or XXX Dollar value each year to maintain their privilege, and the discount may possibly increase with volume so the Dealers are either forced to NOT return the coin or have an incentive of NOT return the coin, so by liquidating the coins at a discount, they are maybe selling at cost a certain portion of their stock and still profit over all.
Also, consider that the dealers moving high volume, they don't need large profit margin (look at bullions) to sustain the business.

Remember how some people raved about this set and say it will appreciate in value? I did not buy the hype. Well, colonial Acres has it today for $269.95. https://www.colonialacres.com/product-p/142296.htmIt was never a hit despite the positive reviews. You could often find it for under $300. I wonder where some of the supporters of this set like Northerncoins and Electrum gone? Left the hobby? Havn't heard from them for a long time

Quote: I wonder where some of the supporters of this set like Northerncoins and Electrum gone? Left the hobby? Havne't heard from them for a long time They might left due to overwhelming amount of offers from RCM. I think Electrum was also on the "circulation side" of the hobbie, so he is probably around. I did buy the set because of set and not followed the hype. But see, I can't tell, that that days it was mistake to pay issue for it. I wanted it, and due to low mintage (of all the coins, and not the sets) was afraid, that it will be unavailable. Imo - unusual artwork, and would prefer to keep it as example of great craftsmanship. But yes, you were right - this not a popular item.

Does anyone know if this set actual sold out? If not, how many were sold?

According to my Charlton 2016 Catalog, all 3000 were sold. But of course this would include coins sold to dealers. And dealers are still selling them for issue price 2 years later. Like Gatewest: http://store.gatewestcoin.com/cgi/v...62B&t=601093BTW, still available at $269.95 at Colonial Acres. Seems no one wants it even at reduced price.

Hello Still with yous Love this set, been enjoying it from day of issue...and I tend to be a bit weary when dealers massively discount an item with only one in stock... This set was scooped up quickly by collectors and held - far and away one of the best designs in years - gotta see it to believe it...
