In celebration of my 50 posts here with the family answer this little trivia question Name the most valued Three Cent Silverbest answer IMHO receives a really cool prize! winner selected 24 hours from the time of my post now! Good Luck I was looking for what would probably be the the King of Trimes....the rare 1851-O Proof of which only 1 exists
True there is also only 1 of the 1852 (held by ANS) but the O mint is much cooler
The 1869/8 is tough, but you could get one with some effort, I have bought and sold several over the past years. Same with some of the other dates mentioned like the business stike 1872...tough but you can find one with patience....
There were some great stories Dustin had his Uncle, Janknez had a great story (think the date was 1864 not 1964 LOL)
In the humor dept, I like Monster's reply, and Inacoffeebuzz China answer
also Dan 8402 reply also touched me..
So with no clear cut winner, I'm picking 3 runner ups
Dan8402, Monster, and Janknez
Send me an email with your address by 10/18 and I'll send over a prizeEdited by TheCoinfest 10/10/2007 5:40 pm

are you asking what date is the most valuable in our opinion? if this is what you are asking I would think the elusive 1869/8 3 cent silver (never seen one just heard rumors they exist). If I have mistaken the question then please explain what you are wanting for a answer

Since I don't know exactly what the question is Ill say a Three Cent Silver that was passed down from generation to generation and has a very high sentimental value, not only monetary

the most valuable 3 cent silver would have to be my great great granfathers william herschel eubanks in which he carried in his hat for good luck. ive only seen this 3 cent peice once in my life, which my great uncle owns it and wont give it up. I have offerd him everything I had in my possesion like my 1972 harley sprint 350ss plus 1,000 cash. I will own that coin one day but now I have settled for his ring which I have worn for one year now.

I'd say it's the 1863 three-cent silver that my great-great grandfather, 2nd Lt. Hardin Weatherford of the 55th U.S. Colored Troop spent on January 7, 1964, to buy a 3-cent stamp to mail a letter to his wife, Martha Ann Reams Weatherford in Litchfield, Illinois, to say that after three years' service to the Union, was coming home. Well the answer has to be:
The Australian 3 Cent
(there is none so it would be worth a million)

1863/2. Don't really have a story, but the ones I've read are great.

I'll go with the 1851 Proof. An estimated 10 were minted, and only one has been graded by PCGS @ PF-66. Their page values it at $200K.
