Got my Britannia in the mail today. I was noticing it looks different than the 2014 issue in the fact that the surface of both sides are textured. What was the rationale for the change?
I assume that you are speaking about the bullion silver Britannia. Nothing has been offically stated but I wonder if the change was done so that the scuff marks, dents, scratches, etc which happen during production will not show as much on the new surface for the 2015 coins. There were lots of complaints about the 2013 ones.
By the way, I am seeing on one UK dealers site that they are expecting to get delivering of 2015 silver bullion Britannias with the new Queen's portatit. First one for the year will have IRB under the Queen's head and the 2nd one will have JC under the Queen's head.
Yes, you are correct, the 1oz silver Britannia. I never knew this series had those issues you mentioned. Thanks for the heads up, definitely wanna get the one with the new portrait. Any word when that will be released?
