Not sure if this is the correct forum for this post (i am sure it will be moved to the proper forum if not)if selling on ebay you should
only accept bank ck. or postal money order. It's your choice if you decide on paypal. I personally do not use it. If a bank ck., cash it first then ship. There are some pretty good forgeries going around.
I know first hand. Luckily I did not lose anything on them. Even worse, are the postal money order forgeries. Once again lucky there, but I brought 4 of them to my local postmaster and even he was amazed
how good they were. You could even see a watermark. In a busy bank
the tellers could easily overlook a small mistake. You could actually
cash it, but then they would come to you in the end and you loose.
I also got a spoof email from ebay (not really ebay) wanting me to reverify my info. on my account. And that was in regards to a coin
for sale inquiry. The guy got booted off, but I had given out some critical info. before hand. Naturally, I cancelled my credit card account and no harm done. Someone from Bulgaria tried to access an atm
with my card numbers. Unreal, From ebay to Bulgaria with Love.
Just thought I would share. I know most of you probably already have this info, but it never hurts to be safe.

BE aware that if a cashiers check is forged, it will cash just fine, then it will come back later and you are out the money and the item.

call the issuing bank and 10 day wait before shipping.

I have to disagree.

As a buyer, you have the protection of being able to get your money back through Paypal if you don't receive the item or if the item is not as described. There is no buyer protection at all with a check or money order. There is nothing stopping the seller from just walking off with your money and sending you nothing. Although an ebay dispute can be opened, this will do nothing as far as getting your money back.

Good to know.
Did not realize paypal would refund if item was not as described.
Thought it was the same as a reg. visa or mc transaction.
Also correct on the fake cashiers ck. I even forgot to mention that in my original post. But usually they are spotted a little easier.
But still the same result. Your Out...Buying on ebay scares me a whole lot more than selling. I usually work out a deal(either way) with a well known, reliable, exp. and honest dealer before going the ebay route. It takes a little more time but it is worth it. You save a few bucks also. If the coin is good then you can sell/buy usually right on the retail level.
