I think this coin is from the Maldive Islands, during the Sulanate of Muhammad Mu'in al-Din Iskandar, which was AH 1213-50 (1798-1835 AD), but I'm having trouble saying which specific coin it is. We could probably narrow it down with diameter and mass info. For what it's worth, I think your images are upside down.

Wow. That's amazing thank you so much , I will post the details of mass a and weight ,,
And yes it's worth pointing out about the upside down images , or I would never learn these things , I'm new to collecting , got passed down a bunch of coins by my nana ,so thought I would carry on her collection , find the history side fascinating , never knew coin collecting could be so interesting , always learning something new , thank you for your response

No problem. That info suggests your coin is probably a 1/2 Larin, which is also called a Kuda, according to the Krause catalog I have. I'm not good enough deciphering Arabic script to identify the year with confidence so I'll leave that to the experts here. The pictures for KM#35.1 look closest to me. You can see some pictures of these at http://www.ngccoin.com/price-guide/...-duid-323540 but note that "varieties exist" and that "images are not of exact coin". I suspect there are more images at http://zeno.ru/ but I haven't searched for them there. By the way, welcome to our hobby! Your nan has given you quite a gift indeed.
