The uncirculated 2015 set has a circulation of 60000 and sells for 28$ at the local post office. Why is it so expensive?. It's 5$ more expensive than the celebration sets. Comparing it to all the other sets (Birthday) (Baby Set) of the year the price isn't the best value. Just wondering if anyone knows if the 2015 loonie has a limited mintage to justify the higher price for the set. Thoughts?

50 cent piece included to the circulation set only
That is the reason, imo.

It has the 50 cent coin the others don't which is crazy, they all had the 50 cents coins a couple of years ago.

from collectors point of view it crazy. But I would prefer this kind of scarcity. This puts the Circulation as stand alone and more "premium".
just hope, this coin will not disappear from all the sets.

When they removed the 50 cent coins from the sets they did not lower the price,that's my point.

Thanks for the insight all. I hadn't looked at the gift sets and only assumed the 50 cent piece would be included. Seems like the mint is trying to get the best of both worlds.

oh...that absolutely correct. I thought that the prices for them dropped.

@Fixguy:
you might check O Canada gift set (if such still exists and if it contains 50c) - they usually were done well.

Are you including tax? The 2015 uncirculated set should be $24.95. Still overpriced, but I find it the fastest way to get a decent one of each denomination for my collection.
Rest in Peace

Tax in it was 28.19$ through Canada Post. 24.95$ before Tax.
