Hi guys,

Basically, I'm selling some coins. And first I'll be sending them to PCGS for grading and TrueView photo service. Does anybody know if I can request them to take picture of the slabs after the grading?

That would save me a lot of time since I need to have photos of the slabs in addition to TrueView in my auction description.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum,

I don't know if PCGS will take pictures of the slab. The best advise I can give you, is to contact PCGS.

as far as I know even if you were to send in coins already graded by PCGS they would crack them out and take the truview pictures then put the coins back in another slab. I don't think they ever shoot a picture of or through the plastic

Thanks Bryan and Spider!

Will give them a call tomorrow, but like Bryan said, I don't think they ever shoot a picture through the plastic either.

Giving them a call probably won't help either since they can't even decide if the Tru-View service even exists. Callers are consistantly told that PCGS discontinued the Tru-View service a long time ago, and people who don't call but just submit, write Tru-View on the submission form and include the payment are still getting back their pictures. It seems that if you want it, don't ask if it is available. But no they don't shoot the slabs. I tried to get them to shoot a picture of a slab a little over two years ago because I needed a picture of THE SLABtype and they refused with the excuse that they couldn't do it because the coin wouldn't look good. I didn't care about the coin, I needed a picture of the holder! Nope, nothing doing.

TRUE VIEW was splashed...but we are actually consider offering again starting in January.

It's all part of the email soliciting everyone's input exercise we're going thru now.

We will probably offer it in some form or the other.

hrh

This was a quote from David Hall yesterday and like everyone said Trueview was a coin only image taken before the coin was put into the slab.

So they splash it in October, but they may start it up again in January? What is with those people? Why end a program for two months? (They did drop it from their list of services over a year ago, but people have been getting back Tru-View submissions as recently as two to three weeks ago. I don't know if anything more recent has been received back.)
