Can anyone help in this area. I photograph my collection, and keep it on disk, However my Lg cent picture's look like a black blob. Any idea's

Lighting from a high angle will help, I have also had good luck using a flash with minimal background light. I have even taken the coin outside in the sunlight and gotten pretty good results .
