Question #1: According to my wife, the trouble in River City was the new pool table would corrupt the young boys, and they needed a Boy's Marching Band to prevent it.

Question #2: What is 1971? Feb. 15, to be precise. The banking system closed Wed Feb 10, and did not re-open until Mon Feb 15. How many times have you heard of a government shutting down the banking system for 5 days, without total chaos ensuing? As another example of how well orchestrated and planned out this conversion was, the bronze coins (½, 1 & 2 "new" pennies) were being produced from 1968-1971, all bearing the date of 1971, which is when they became legal tender. Ironically, the 1971 proof sets were not produced until 1972.
