It's a Greaser. They are relatively common, but specimens like this one are more interesting since features are missing or largely obliterated. You'll find these from time-to-time when you CRH. I'd keep that until you find an even more significant specimen. But for me, it's a keeper even if you do. When grease fills the die, the devices get impacted and this translates into missing details.

oh I'm keeping it, it is crazy how it skipped over the 9 between the 1 and the rest of the date though. My first thought it weak strike since the liberty is weak also

Is anyone else noticing that it says 1997, the date of the coin is 1997.

yes but at some angles and different light it also looks like it could be 1957, or 67, as well as 97

Yes I rather like it myself, bought my first unopened box of pennies from a bank and found a few interesting things (as far as errors like die cracks and this one)
