The Brazil note doesn't have any date on either side. At bottom of the note, in the middle, there's a small print said: "American Bank Note Company" (on the Obverse and Reverse of the note). The note is well-worn but the design is very interesting. It's the Serie 245A

The Uruguay note is from 1939. The small print on the Reverse side, at the bottom & middle of the note, said: "Thomas De La Rue & Co.LTD.

Thank you all for your info.

Brazil: 5 cruzieros, series 245A, issued sometime between 1943 and 1950. Hand-signed; you can best see the remnants of the signature between the portrait and the right-hand-side serial number. Listed in Pick as #135. Probably worth a dollar or two, even in that condition.

Uruguay: 1 peso, again WWII or shortly afterwards - notes dated with the Law of 1939 were issued up to 1970, though the 1 peso notes had been replaced with 1 peso coins by 1960. "Series A" (yours) is the earliest; it goes up to Series D. Pick #35. Again, worth around a dollar, maybe less - harder to judge the condition of this one.

The pre-1960 Pick catalogue I'm using is pretty old; perhaps someone with a more modern edition can chime in with corrections or additional information...
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis
