It (almost) never hurts to negotiate a little bit.

If there were pawn shops in my area I would go ever weekend. Besides searching for coins I would also be looking for swords. Sadly the closest pawn shop is more than 50 miles away.

Oh, man echizento you would have been in heaven today. With the price of Au and Ag up, people are coming out of the woodwork with stuff to the local coin shop--I go in just about every day to see what people are going to bring in. In addition to one guy selling $41,500 of gold bullion, a family came in with swords and old guns and family silver. I didn't get a real close look at the swords but there were definitely some interesting ones that I would have liked to look at further. A couple of the guns were vintage Quackenbush.

In your third picture there is a coin with a large R or FR and IX underneath. What is that coin?

Maybe, I should take a trip to my nearest pawn shop and see what's happening there. If it's anything like the one you go to I'd have a field day and spend a lot of money.

Arthrene, That coin looks like a 5 Ore from Denmark. The monogram FR IX is for Frederik IX.

Thanks for the pictures, sadly those are fakes and nothing that I would even look at. However real ones do show up at pawn shops from time to time, but they get snatched up fast.
