I've gotten a bunch of exo and a few foreign coins from this shop before but I went in today and there was another "pile" of coins. No exo, all coins. He offered all for 40 dollars and I took them. I have no idea what I got. The pawn shop owner said he's got pounds of them and he would sell by the pound if I wanted. Is it worth it for me to go back for more. He didn't say how much but I'll get the answer Saturday. Waddya think?. Oh!, do you see anything interesting in there?. I don't know about value either, but if you wind up paying a dime per coin you should be paying more than enough.

If you are planning on buying large lots of world coin you may want to invest in the Krause catalogs. They will help you catalog your collection and give you an idea of their worth. I recommend the DVD version for $99, you get world coins from 1801-1900, 1901-2000, and 2001-present all on DVD. If you buy the books they sell for @$65 each.

Thanks for the information, this will help in future negotiations. I got 225 pieces for fourty dollars so...what is that, about 17 or 18 cents a coin. I think I can talk him down on our next deal. Thanks again.

That's a fair price for 225 coins.

A fair enough price, especially if there's some silver mixed in amongst it. I can see at least one, a silver British florin, bottom left corner of the top pic (#350), beneath the Singapore 50¢.

Hi Acidic, my instant reaction is if I'd not bought any coins like these before, I'd maybe give him about half of what he asked for them - you should have given him a funny look when he made the offer! Sorry if that sounds a bit neg' but it is my honest opinion - don't by from 'pros' buy from your buddies ;) ... *** on the other hand I am surprised you got 225 coins, maybe that was about okay!...

Those WW II German Occupation Belgium Zinc coins don't age well, it's hard to find them without corrosion.

Ech...I think there were only a dozen or so of the Belgium zinc so that's good... Matty, I think I'll try the "funny look" thing this Saturday. Sap... Your coin kung-fu is strong!. I'll have to dig out that silver. I didn't think there was any in there. This tells me he doesn't search his coins.
I did find one coin I'm curious about. It's from Hong Kong, it looks like its three coins glued together with edge writing in the vertical position. I'll get a picture in a minute. I'm in a quick reply right now.
I think I'll go back tomorrow for more. It is just a pawn shop. Its kinda funny. Every time I go over there, hes sittin' out front smokin' a cigarette with a couple of his buddies. They all look like they just crawled out of a coal mine. Someone in town gave up a pair of silver mint sets and I think he took them, pulled them out and fingered ALL of them. He didn't know they were silver. I got them for the clad price. Had to give them a LIGHT bath though.
Thanks again, you guys are awesome!.
I guess what I'm saying is, he doesn't know coins.

Acidic - I didn't consider the possibility of some nice above average coins in there so I might be wrong. Do try the funny look if you're inclined to and good luck tomorrow.
