Looking at ebay, why are Morgan dollars selling for $1? If the coin is in the worst shape it still has a melt value of about $11-$12. Some of the coins I see are in ok shape and are selling for a $1 w free shipping. Am I missing something? Shouldn't they be selling for more? |

Are they actually "selling" for $1, or is that the starting bid? I've seen a lot start at $1 and have a reserve set so the seller won't be forced to sell at a loss if bidding doesn't go high enough for his liking.

You're right, it's a starting bid, but some have actually sold for $1.

The last 2 links you posted were re-listed then sold for much more. Just because an item has ended doesn't mean it was sold for sure at that price. Ive won items that were a lot less then their value and seller refused to sell. Made up a bs story of how he lost it. He then relisted it under different pics few weeks later. I'msure its the case with a lot of these .99 cent items. Highly Doubt that ms63 vam3 anacs was sold/shipped out for a buck.

That could be. I was curious and looked at ebay under 'sold items' and these came up. I understand all too well some sellers are crazy, haha.... I cannot verify it the seller refunded the customer and refused to sell, who knows, but if I won an auction at that price and they refused to sell, I would be on the phone with ebay to make sure the seller is banned for fraud....... |

If any item on ebay isn't getting the attention or traffic it should be anything can "sell" for cheap if the seller isn't shill bidding. It can happen to any kind of auction item not just coins with no reserve. But the seller actually going through with it is a different story. A lot of things behind the scenes happen. The way your post comes off is that you seem to think its "trending" for those dirt cheap prices. They are not trending for those low prices I can guarantee that. |

I'll bid on a morgan for .99 and if the seller didn't sell it, then I would call ebay. So, yes, I assume they sold for .99C or close to that. There are also morgans that sold for other amounts, still cheap in my opinion. Who knows..... |

I looked at those links and I'm seeing the shipping is for $10-$12. However, I'm in Canada so they may have increased the ship fee. Many times a seller may have a low start auction and a very high ship fee. ebay has changed some rules around shipping fees, to reflect that the buyer accepts responsibility for agreeing to insane shipping fees. Only a rating of 1 will negatively impact a seller, when rating the shipping fee. Some sellers will use a higher ship fee to help counterbalance low bids. Since a reserve costs $2, even if no sale. I've seen many ads where the item price seems a bargain until you look at shipping fees. It can also be true, some sellers won't ship, if the bid finished too low. ebay cannot force a sale, however, a neg or nuetral feedback counts as a defect for the seller. They can have an account closed with as little as 7 defects, from different buyers. So it's important to closely read an ad before buying. Deals are far and few!! |
