I was under the assumption that a brinks box is the same as a fedbox? Reason I ask is that I went to pick up a fedbox from my local bank, only to find out its labeled brinks on the outside and contains clear plastic rolls :(

I enjoy searching through any amount of coins, but I'd like to better my odds of finding some great coins. So, am I wasting time with brinks boxes? I bought pennies this time, just to fill some holes in my books. Thanks guys!

I'm not sure. The ones that I get, I think that they are Fedboxes, but all of the coins are wrapped by Dunbar. They are in paper wrappers instead of plastic, but all of the coins were circulated.

It all depends on the contractor that the bank uses to get there coins. The mint does not roll or box coins for banks they use a contractor to do that. When I get a box for my bank sometimes it is from brinks sometimes some other company. However you can still find so good things in roll searching keep looking.

So I'm not wasting my time searching rolls from brinks then? Cool...

I did find a few wheaties, oldest being 1930. Me and my wife are enjoying this search thats for sure! I asked them if they carry halves, they did not have but a few so I didn't bother.

Does any bank let you go in and purchase coins like this? I figured if you didn't bank there you couldn't purchase?

I'm pretty sure that you have to me a member of the bank to order coins like that. But usually for 'rare' money like kennedy halfs, and $2 bills, I have to go to the main branch. That is where I have my best luck. And it also helps to have a good realtionship with your bank teller.

But good job finding those wheaties. Its still always exciting for me when I find one in a roll, or get one in change.

In June of this year I had a friend of mine go to her bank an get me some halves. They had six rolls so she got them for me, however when I got them home and started my searching they were all new 2001-D's . Just goes to show sometimes never know what you get from a bank.
