I found this clipping comes from about 1883. Think of all the silver dollars with scuff marks from foot traffic on one side only. Does anyone have a silver dollar with really unequal wear from obverse to reverse that might have come from this saloon?

He was one of New York City's political bosses of the time, a Tammany Hall type with Eastman Gang affiliations. No doubt he was personally behind that ad, as propaganda.

At the Hemingway house down in Key West, Florida, there is a penny stuck in the concrete by one of the poles that holds up the building next to the pool.
