The Lady Bug Coin in question looks like it is fake. This is a picture of my coin. Compare the two: look at the tail (end) of the ladybug in the OP picture. There is a lip or rim at the end that is likely done by a manufacturing process. It appears if it the ladybug is two parts; a upper and lower part.

My ladybug is completely round at the end; there is no rim there. The ladybug is a single piece.

A closer look of the OP coin. The rim looks perfectly shaped, no way that is hand made.

Perhaps the OP got the dates mixed up. He did not say he bought the coin in 2011. Also, it was not $600 on ebay in 2011 when it first came out either. The coin did not go to that price until the following year when the 2nd glass coin came out.

There is noticeable difference, but wouldn't say, that it combined of two parts, might be the bottom lip something unique, like thin / thick bumble-bee. The colour of Ladybug also bit different. Suspicious, but hard to say.

Anyway, keep it, specially if you have all the set....
I don't think, that unlucky purchase has to destroy joy from multy-years series.

Right on, this sounds most likely. Too maybe inconsistencies with the missing capsule,CoA,case, and now the rim on the bug, I am going with fake also.

If it's a fake, it's a very good one. It looks pretty real to me. It also looks impaired.

by the way, this thread from the early days is 2011 is an interesting read with hindsight.

And it demonstrates that MP is correct. The coin was apparently selling in the range of only $300 several months after release (Sept 2011).

Very nice reminder, thank you CC-Ottawa

I remember also other thread, that was created before coin's launch. Most of the people disliked it. When the profit comes to the picture, the opinions tend to change.

In 2013, I believe, there were a buch of replicas of this on Alibaba, sold at a very cheap price. I don't have the link. According to what I remember, the coins sold on that website were silver, but clearly replicas.
