It says CIBER commemorates surpassing $1 billion December 6 2007 on one side and ciber first $1B year on the other I'msure it's probably not worth anything money wise but cannot find any information on the net about it at all many thanks

Hi Sara - I'm not thinking it's a real coin (monetary), but just as you said. Others here will have a more conclusive statement.

As an FYI, when taking pictures you should use a plain backdrop so the camera doesn't have to work as hard getting the details of the coin. When busy like your counter top, it can make zeroing in more difficult.

I like the countertop though! Have fun in the forums!!

You bet! I take a majority of my pictures using my iPhone5. Essentially I put the coin at a distance of 6-7cm using an object to rest the phone against. The coin lies flat and the lighting as indirect and diffused as possible while allowing appropriate lighting. With the phone on the stand, and avoiding shadows, I use the zoom feature on the phone camera to fill the field of view. That's when I snap the picture. After that, I use the cropping feature on my phone to eliminate most of the background leaving just the coin. Final editing comes after I send it from the phone to my laptop where I use the photo editor to reduce lighting glare, add contrast, and adjust color. Sounds like a lengthy process, but after uploading a few times, things become routine. Here's my stand and a before-and-after 20 Pence I found this a.m.

Ciber is an American-based multinational IT consulting company. These were, presumably, made as commemorative medals and given away to staff to commemorate the company hitting the stated target. However, I'm not entirely sure whether the billion dollars in question is in assets/company value or revenue/sales. Given that it's denominated in "dollars", I'd assume it was primarily intended for giving away in America, though may have been given away in their overseas offices too.
