Another couple of coins from my new bundle that I cant identify.
At first I thought they were a lead seal because of their shape and weight but then an image appeared on the flat side.
Only 1 of the pics shows the portrait side well enough, there is something there on the other but I think further cleaning is needed.
Coin 1 - Thunderbolt across, portrait facing left. 6.14g
Coin 2 - Large letter, unknown image. 6.13g

I have done a lot of searching without success, not an area I know anything about which doesn't help.
Any info will be appreciated.
TIA.

Hi BEN,NOOB
I agree with both of you regarding the similarities to the types you posted.
Searched through Sicilian issues of the period and yes it may well be from that period AN.
Although the Byzantine suggestion is credible I honestly think that the 2 coins are from the same period, same weight/size & shape lends me to thinking same time minted.
Just cant find it yet

I agree with Anoob on the first coin. At first I thought the second one might have been Byzantine, but with a closer look I think I see what appears to be a right facing bust. You might have to clean these a bit to get an more accurate ID.

on the first coin you see a thunderbolt...
Well, I can see a galley prow to right on the reverse; the image of the obverse must be roma or similar...
I think that must be a roman republick triens like this http://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=118181

I think you might be onto something there Albert
Further cleaning will help but I think I know the period now

I've been trying to figure out what the second coin could be it might be a prow of a galley, I was also thinking it might even be an anchor.

The symbol to the left on the " letter " coin looks like those you get on the " owl " coins.
That's about as far as I have got with that 1 Echizento.
