As other mentioned, your coin is a fake, made in China by counterfeiters.

Here is what a real one looks like:

The numbers 1921 on your coin does not even come close to the real example.

Here is a news talking about a collector who a member on this forum trying to stop fakes such as yours. They also discuss about 1921 50 cents fakes.

No need to waste your time getting appraised. Hope you did not overpay thinking it was real!

If you would like an opinion from someone with the coin in hand just stop by your friendly neighbourhood coin shop. If you would like an official opinion then send it to ICCS or CCCS. http://www.canadiancoincertificatio...m/index4.php

Guys, I think he does need to send it to a TPG , not because it might be real but to cement it is fake. I just have the feeling that this guy will maintain it is real no matter what. We have seen this on the forums before.

Yes indeed a sad state of affairs. But Harmonica the OP will send it to a TPG and they will be wrong too! Flea Markets abound with "Kings of Wishful Thinking". The only thing I am sure about is that the Flea |market seller of this piece knows how to get more of these and at 20 bucks a pop knows it is a super profitable albeit illegal venture.
Even the most ill informed person on Canadian coins knows the storied pieces. The 1921 half the 1921 five cents and a 1948 dollar. Next week this flea market guy will be offering a barn yard find of a 1953 Corvette. He will be the guy selling the directions ONLY to the barn yard at you guessed it 20 bucks. Quite frankly after over forty years of being in the coin trade I get more than a little cranky reading this stuff. !
