My mother passed away recently and left a coin collection, consisting of
the 50 State Quarters in various sets, plus many, many silver dimes, dollars, silver certificates, loose bills, oetc....
I live in Conroe, Texas. Any suggestions regarding having this collection appraised would be very much appreciated.
If this is the incorrect place to make this post, please move it.
Thank you.

You could take the coins to a coin dealer in your area for an appraisal, or you could try posting pictures of the coins in this forum and the bill in the US Note forum. Members here would probably be able to give you a fairly accurate price on them.

Arthrene brings up a good point. I will only note that a coin dealer must be one that you trust. I have seen both sides of the fence with this, and there are some that are just out to make money and not help.

Worst case scenario for you, make a list of what you have including date and mintmark if any, and post the list here. You can attempt to attach grades yourself, or you can post a photo or two and tell us that "all are about in this condition". We are here to help in any way, and we love collections and inheritances.

Oh and how rude of me, my sincere condolences.

On a brighter note, welcome to the forum!!

Houston Numismatic Exchange in Time square Rice Village (Check the Houston Phone book) The will give you an honest answer sometimes they can be a little too blunt for my liking. The price they quote you will be their buy price which means if you sold the coins privately they would go for a little more.

Tights is absolutely correct! Be careful who you go to. Don't sell anything until you're sure how much it's worth. It's very unfortunate but there are those in our society today who are only to happy to take advantage of those who are less informed than themselves.

If it's not too expensive, I would suggest getting a second opinion on whomever appraises your coins first.
